What to do when you are feeling lost in life

The journey of life has many ups and downs and no doubt you have experienced both of these.

But what happens if you find yourself on a path where you are feeling lost in life, not sure where you are headed or what to do next. You wake up in the morning and you are just not looking forward to the day ahead.

You dread going in at your job and you are basically living for the weekend. Here are 3 key tips and lessons that will help you to get back on track and make you feel good about your life again.

If you feel unhappy, life is trying to teach you something

If you feel that there is something seriously bothering you, be it your job, your relationships, or just feelings of uncertainty and despair, you need to self-check to examine completely what is causing the real problem.

It might be that you need to change your job or your relationships as they may no longer be serving you.

It also could just be that you need to change your attitude towards the way you view certain things in your life.

Everything in life has its timeline and when it has run it’s course needs to be changed or fixed.

Therefore, ask yourself, “What do I need to change or fix in my life right now?” Once you figure it out, go ahead and change it fearlessly.

If it works out, great, if it doesn’t, also great, because you would have learnt what you needed to and you will be clear on your next step.

2. Find the Why

When you figure out what is making you feel lost in life, you also need to figure out why you are feeling that way.

List down all the things that are making you unhappy and ask yourself why they are making you unhappy.

If for example a relationship with your partner is the problem, ask yourself why, when you find the answer, ask why again so you can get to the very root of the issue.

The answers to the repeating why question might surprise you. You might find out that in as much as your partner is not perfect, there might be underlying causes for your reactions such as strongly entrenched childhood beliefs, life experiences and so on.

3. Declutter your Life

To declutter means to remove unnecessary items from an untidy or overcrowded place. You need to declutter your entire life and start afresh.

This includes your physical space, your mind and your interactions. Clean your house and get rid of all the unnecessary stuff you no longer need.

Make sure your surfaces are clean and neat. This helps you to be more organized and it is the first step.

Then clear yourself of all negative energy from all the people and interactions that no longer serve you.

Spend time with yourself and begin to clear your mind of toxic and stuck energy.

You will find it helpful to practice meditation, journaling and yoga as these activities help you get in touch with your inner self.
